Upper School

Upper School girls learn in a vibrant educational environment that challenges them to strive for academic excellence, maintain the highest standards of personal integrity and meet individual and community responsibilities.

Our academic program is our foundation. Designed to prepare young women for the challenges they will face after Chapin, the Upper School provides a rigorous academic program. Our topnotch teachers guide students through a curriculum combining requirements and electives which allows girls to build skills and explore areas of specific interest. Our partnerships with other schools, institutes, universities and learning centers provide girls with opportunities to learn and to gain practical experience outside of the classroom.

A hallmark of our school is the mutual respect between faculty and students. Students always say that the most important thing about the faculty is their dedication to each student’s success. Class Supervisors and advisors ensure the well-being of every girl.

A wide variety of activities reflects the manifold interests of the student body, provides opportunities for leadership and contributes to the larger community. Whether participating in athletics, performing in a musical play, starting a new club or leading the Upper School in an all-school initiative such as International Week, students can explore many areas of interest and focus on specific areas of talent and expertise.

Chapin girls enjoy immeasurable opportunities because here girls do everything. They answer every question in every classroom, and they are the presidents and vice-presidents of all clubs. An all-girls environment gives our students confidence to thrive and lead in the world beyond Chapin.  Each girl builds a clear understanding of herself and her world by thinking independently, working with others and cultivating qualities such as hard work, organization, compassion, empathy and the pursuit of both personal excellence and the public good.
