Where a Chapin Education Takes You

The college guidance program puts the student at the center of the process as she considers the best options for her education beyond Chapin, encouraging each young woman to take pride in her own particular strengths and ambitions. The goal of Chapin's college guidance program is to have each Chapin senior attend the college or university best suited to that student and her academic and personal goals.

The comprehensive college guidance program begins intensively in Class 11, though the college counselors meet regularly with Class 9 and 10 students and parents to discuss class-appropriate issues. Through college guidance seminars and individual appointments, the counselors get to know each girl well and are prepared to serve as her advocate throughout the college application process.

Our college counselors have many years experience in secondary-school college guidance and university admission. Working closely with students, parents, the faculty and college admission representatives, our program provides detailed assistance with the application process including:

  • assistance in developing a balanced, individualized application list
  • guidance about standardized testing
  • information about financial aid and merit scholarships
  • essay writing, application assistance and interview practice
  • opportunities to meet with college representatives who visit Chapin for individual visits and for our spring Manhattan Independent School Consortium college fair.

Every Chapin senior is able to make an informed decision about her future because she learns to make good use of the many resources the school offers her. Chapin believes that the student, her family and the school should work together as partners in the process of investigating and attaining the best possible options for the student's years beyond Chapin.
